I am a Junior at New Jersey Institute of Technology pursuing a major in Computer Engineering. My objective for a students success is to help them succeed in math. One on one interaction, with a student, gives a tutor like me the opportunity to determine, address and focus on the specific causes of the difficulties a particular student might be having, without any distractions.
Experience
Myself being a college student I realize how important it is to have a good teacher. In college, the classes I appreciate the most are not just the subjects I am interested in but it also majorly depends on how enjoyable the professors make the classes. I will try my best to employ those strategies for my teaching. I think patience is the first key to being a great teacher and I believe I have amazing skill in being patient. As a student, whenever I do not understand the material enough, I feel the need for a good teacher. Similarly, I feel the same for my students. My main focus towards my students is to always be polite and caring and make them understand the material I am teaching. I give them time to understand a problem which is why they feel free to share their academic problems with me. Because they know that I will explain a problem as many times as needed until they fully understand. I truly love math. As long as I remember I have always loved math, found it fascinating, interesting and highly rewarding. I like sharing my passion for math with my ambitious students as much as I like math. I started teaching math to other students since I was in middle school. Throughout my academic career, I have always allowed a specific amount of time to help kids understand various concepts of math. Math is one of the subjects that I not only am good at but also of the subjects that I enjoy doing and show passion towards. I will be more than happy to help students at any educational level. If you are a motivated student shooting for excellence, I want to work with you. I have more than 2 years of tutoring experience. I have taught elementary, middle as well as high school math. I worked directly with students that needed additional help with their course materials in small focus groups. There were students that need extra help than the other students, so I provided them with extra assistance to make sure they did not fall behind. I held extra tutoring sessions every day after school so that it is easier for the students to get help with their homework throughout the school year. I tutored Prealgebra, Algebra 1 &2, Precalculus, calculus, and various other math subjects. I tutored not only in math but also in Computer Science. Starting from primary school until now I was always one of the top math students in my class. Despite the amount of competition that prevailed in class I always tried to do my very best due to my passion for math. This was one of the major reasons why I loved math. I always tried my best and worked hard to understand the material and the concepts behind it thoroughly. I pay careful attention to detail which is one of the key elements to understand math. I understand the time and efforts it takes to achieve academic excellence since I have been in the same position before. I have worked with students with different academic levels. Being a teacher I realized that anyone can be good at math if they have a great teacher and are willing to put in the efforts required. I want the students that work with me to benefit as much as possible. I would be more than welcome to accept any suggestions or study materials and resources provided by the student and the parents. I am very easy to reach and will respond to messages as soon as possible.
